Faculty of British Education
STUDY FOR A UNIVERSITY OF
LONDON DEGREE WITHOUT GOING TO LONDON
External students
of the University of London may study and sit for exams in
St.Petersburg
The University of London is high rated not only in the
United Kingdom but all over the world. The International University of
Fundamental Studies (IUFS) organizes training to the full extent and prepares
students to sit for exams according to the programmes of the University of
London.
This faculty is made up to offer University of London
External Degree Programmes, and other British educational programmes. The
faculty has always welcomed students from overseas.
Ideally, study will be full-time as
internal at IUFS, in which case you will spend a number of years at IUFS.
However some overseas students study part-time external, visiting the IUFS
during their studying through IUFS Faculty of Distance Learning .
The University of London
External Programme is nearly 140 years old, having been established in 1858. Its
mission statement is as follows; ". To promote opportunity for higher
education, both nationally and worldwide, for those able to benefit."
In effect, this means that students
from around the world who satisfy the Universitys entrance requirements, can
register and take the examinations for a University of London degree or Diploma
without having to came London. Such an opportunity appeals to many types of
students-school leavers who, for what ever reason, cannot gain entry to a
university in their own country; older people who delayed entry to a higher
qualification and now have work or family commitments which mean they cannot
study full-time; those thinking of a career change; and those who simply want
the challenge of talking a degree level qualification.
The University of London has an
excellent reputation and the quality of its degree and its research activities
are known worldwide. One of the cornerstones of the External Programme is that
the degree awarded to an External Students is the same as that awarded to an
Internal student studying in London at a College of the University. While the
learning experience of the External student is not the same as that of the
Internal student, he or she is required to reach the same standard at the
examination. No allowance is made for the more difficult study circumstances of
the External student.
Today, there are more than 29,000 active External
students. The majority live in Singapore, the UK, Malaysia and Hong Kong but
there are External students in 130 other countries. Most study Law, the next
most popular subjects are Economics, Management and Computing and Information
Systems.
In order to be admitted to IUFS, an applicant must have
his/her school leaving certificate and have passed IELTS test ( IELTS - International English Language
testing System) at the minimum with 5.5 for the Diploma in English or BA in
English. For other courses applicants must have passed two A Level subjects with
IELTS or TOEFL test.
